MOGI GUACU - Sylvamo, the world's paper company, in partnership with Mogi Guacu City Hall and Cooper 3Rs Association, is introducing the city's first recycling location.

A LEVA, or local assisted voluntary delivery, container is available outside the Cultural Center of Mogi Guacu Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Residents can recycle plastic, paper, metal, glass, oil, appliances and clothes as well as ask experts questions about recycling.

Cooper 3Rs collectors, who are mostly women, dispose of items left at the drop-off site, providing an income for local families.

“We expect the volume of waste collected to increase by 20%, which benefits the environment and the local workforce. This is one way we can give back to where we live and work," said Mariana Claudio, community engagement and sustainability manager at Sylvamo.

Mogi Guacu City Hall offers easy access for residents. If successful, more LEVA sites could be added in the future.

The partnership collects around 86 tons of recyclable materials per month.  Project result data is available on the Lixo Zero platform.
