MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Once an astronaut, then a moose rescuer and most recently a treehouse builder, Sylvamo's favorite literary canine has a new accolade: award winner.
Sylvamo recently won the Visionary Award at the 2023 Summit Emerging Media Awards for children's book Apollo and the Treehouse and its accompanying launch campaign. Apollo, rescue dog and titular star of Sylvamo's innovative book series, comes to life in the award-winning book through augmented reality (AR), going on an adventure that was chosen by readers.
Printed on Accent® Opaque paper, Apollo and the Treehouse is the third installment in the AR-enhanced Apollo series, joining the first book, Apollo the Spacedog, and its sequel, Apollo and the Mill Moose.
To pick the plot for Apollo's third book, Sylvamo created an interactive postcard with an AR component that, when launched, gave readers the opportunity to choose between two different plot lines: treehouse or haunted house.
“Apollo and the Treehouse demonstrates the power of print in storytelling,” said Karin King, commercial printing brand manager at Sylvamo. “This campaign was unique because it enabled readers to play a part in the creative process, and we are honored that our innovative approach to interactive print was acknowledged by the Summit International Awards.”
Apollo is not only a champion for the power of paper, but an advocate for the importance of sustainable forestry, responsible paper manufacturing and valuing nature resources.
Sylvamo is committed to the success of the entire ecosystem, with a purpose to produce the paper the world relies on in the most responsible and sustainable ways.
