MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sylvamo’s Eastover, South Carolina, mill is celebrating 40 years of successful operations and was recognized in the U.S. Congressional Record, a daily publication of United States Congress proceedings.
Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), whose district includes the mill, commemorated the occasion by highlighting the anniversary and the mill’s contributions over the years.
“The Eastover Mill is a shining example of the future of American manufacturing—producing the paper we rely on responsibly and sustainably, supporting family-wage jobs, and contributing to the Eastover and Richland County communities,” Clyburn said. “I wish Sylvamo continued prosperity and success in the years to come.”
Eastover is the largest, lowest-cost producer of uncoated freesheet paper in North America and an important employer in the region, employing more than 800 men and women and creating over 5,000 additional jobs.
“As we celebrate 40 years of the Eastover Mill, I can’t help but look back on all the hard work and dedication that got us here. This milestone shows just how much our employees, both past and present, have contributed to our success,” said Mike Gregory, mill manager.
“We are incredibly honored by this recognition that highlights our achievements and the important role we play in our community. Together, we look forward to continuing our legacy of excellence and making a positive impact for many more years to come as part of the world’s paper company.”
The mill has a long history of supporting critical community needs, prioritizing sustainability and using renewable energy and responsibly sourced materials.
