MOGI GUACU, Brazil— Sylvamo is donating $15,000 to support people in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, impacted by historic floods.
Local authorities report nearly 147 people have been killed, 127 are missing and 539,000 are now homeless throughout the southern Brazilian state. In all, 2.1 million people are affected by the tragedy.
“Caring is part of who we are, which is why we are mobilizing to support people affected by this catastrophic situation,” said Tatiana Kalman, senior vice president and general manager, Latin America. “We stand with our team members, customers, partners and the community to help those who need it most during this time.”
In partnership with Chamex Institute, the company is also hosting an employee giving campaign to further support those impacted.
