Seen by Sylvamo: Monitoring Program Helps Vulnerable Species
Guided by a concept of “knowing to conserve,” Sylvamo’s biodiversity monitoring program, known locally as Bem-te-vi, engages employees to help protect and conserve local biodiversity on company-owned forestland by recording wild animals and descriptors such as tracks and physical behavior. This helps contribute to restoring vulnerable populations and allows the company to better understand its natural environment.

Safety is our most important responsibility. We strive to ensure that everyone understands how to work safely and develop and maintain processes designed to fail safely.
In 2024, Sylvamo reached a critical moment. Safety performance was trending in the wrong direction, with more injuries occurring during routine tasks, specifically hand injuries. Leaders knew something had to change and it needed to involve everyone.
Through data collection, employee feedback and events like safety standdowns, Sylvamo identified hand safety as a primary focus area for 2025.

Safety and well-being is a continuous effort, one in which the company’s work will never be done until Sylvamo can sustain an injury-free workplace. The company is making progress towards this goal by focusing on hazard recognition and risk elimination with targeted safety projects.

Sylvamo CDP Scores Improve for Second Straight Year
Sylvamo earned high marks from CDP, improving scores in water and climate while maintaining high scores for environmental transparency and forests. Since first disclosing in 2022, Sylvamo’s scores have improved every year.

Water Reduction

Sylvamo Helps Protect Water Resources in Latin America
Sylvamo’s Latin America mills are among many industrial water users in the region. That’s why we actively work to protect and manage local water resources by partnering with other companies and stakeholders to share basin access that provides clean drinking water for nine million people.
